ABOUT DEANA

Deana serves as the Consulting Director for Blue Jean Education Consulting. She joined Blue Jean after over ten years of consulting for her company. With over 40 years of experience as a public educator, she has experienced changes in knowledge of how we learn, mindsets, roles, and responsibilities, the impact of society on how educators are perceived, and the extraordinary work of intelligent educators who are dedicated and committed to serving the greater good of all students and society.

Deana’s career started in a small district as a middle school teacher, and she initiated one of the first Gifted and Talented Programs in the state before the state mandated their establishment. For over thirty years, she has served in public education as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, executive director, and associate superintendent in both mid-sized and large districts in the North Texas area. Deana is certified to complete evaluations for private schools and public schools through Cognia.

Deana believes all students deserve quality educators and administrators. She believes educators deserve support, systems where the vision, mission, and values align with theirs, professional development, opportunities for their own learning, and leaders who support them, so they can be successful, effective, efficient, and joyful! Deana desires to serve others, support the growth of districts, campuses, and leaders, and celebrate their accomplishments.

Deana is a systems thinker with an extensive background in instructional leadership, organizational improvement, and leadership development. She received her bachelor’s from Texas Christian University and her master’s from Tarleton State University. She has acquired many hours beyond her master’s to continue learning about educational leadership.

As a lifelong learner, Deana’s passion projects involve coaching and supporting district and campus leaders to achieve their personal goals and those of the districts and campuses they serve. She loves her family and family traditions. Summers are meant for a family trip to Port Aransas, Thanksgiving at her home, weekly visits with her granddaughter, and Christmas with her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter at their home. She has a son over forty and another daughter who is eighteen. She has four dogs, two cats, two ferrets, and a quaker named Echo.
